An entry for ~chupachup's Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince contest. How could ANYONE PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY OF FREE CHUPACHUP ART.



SO, UM.

This turned out like 1/2 as good as I was hoping for. The background is what bugs me. It looks too soft and distant. It's supposed to be tile, but looks somewhat like fabric. DX The blood looks goofy here, too, but that's just with the upped saturation (I hope).
But I'm still sort of fond of it.

This had to be done in Photoshop because of the DPI requirements (I prefer Open Canvas for its paintery style. I haven't used Photoshop for a picture since Of Montreal Files) and OMGOSH I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK THAT STUFF. I made the picture letter-size (8.5x11 inches)... and AGH D: Is it supposed to be that GIGANTIC (6600 x 5100 pixels)?! I'VE NEVER DONE THIS PRINTABLE-STUFF BEFORE. So, uh D8 Chuchu, if you need the original size of this, I don't know how that's gonna WORK BECAUSE HOLY FRICK. HUUUUUUGE.

Also, I have a few versions of this. This is one with heightened saturation (BECAUSE IT'S PRETTY). The original version is sort of gloomy and dull. I don't know which version I like! D: I also played around with contrast and stuff, and got some cool effects in other versions, so...

I'm indecisive.

The tiles look like tiles for me, if this is only half as good as what you were going for the original one would/should be on the most popular *o*

Aww, that turned out great! I LOVE THE LITTLE RAT. The colors are so vibrant and pretty, and the shading is fantastic. (are those your original lines? HOLY CRAP WOMAN you are too good. I could never get that coloring-under-pencilwork thing down in any program. But then, other people seem to do that quite easily, so it's probably just me.) Oh, and the tiles look sufficiently tile-y to me.

I just noticed this, but the fabric has a really nice texture to it. Good luck! If anyone deserves to win this, it's you.

Thanks XD The original version looks like this: [link] . It's a little less vibrant, as you can see. It's just that when I finish a colored picture, there are SO MANY POSSIBILITIES with changing or heightening its colors for different effects (LIKE THIS 8D [link] See? SEE HOW FUN THAT IS?), I tend to go a little crazy. *laugh* I really don't know which version I like best.
PFFff, you are just AS good. I was just thinking how I could teach you other little PS things, then I started thinking how much easier it would be in person, and that led to thoughts of "you should be here"/"I should be there" D:
*laugh* Strangely, I really like drawing tiles. The kitchen your prize-picture (which I am constantly brainstorming for, I'll have you know) takes place in just might have to have tile walls.
